Plaid has played a huge part in Fall and Winter trends, but I have loved a good plaid shirt for years. It is such a versatile piece in my wardrobe. I love making a plaid shirt look preppy buttoned all the way to the top. When I want more of a casual look I leave it open and layer it over a tee.

For my take on this classic piece I wanted to make a plaid shirt feel a bit more “fashion”, so I dared to mix plaids. Something about this combo gives me the same vibes as a suit set. If you are one of those that loves a good suit, this could be a look to try!

I chose to put together two plaids that were very similar in color and scale. This is usually a fashion ‘no no’ (see my post all about mixing prints). In this look I feel like it works because the colors are so dark and muted. If this outfit was one of those neon Clueless plaids that I have seen around, it would be a different story.

This look is definitely something I would wear to work. In fact, I even attempted to wear this ensemble out a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, my husband saw me putting it on. He promptly asked if I “was actually going to wear that”. With that, I immediately changed my outfit.

Now that I have seen this outfit in photos I am totally taking this look to the streets!
Would you ever wear something like this to work? How do you feel about the plaid trend? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
