These Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvets are a matte lip lacquer based off the original show off lip lacquers that everyone raves about. I got mine in the shade Meteroic Matte and it cost about 5-6 dollars depending on the retailer.
The Packaging
The packaging is similar to the original packaging except with a little label that says it’s matte. The applicator with a small hole for extra product, and I always feel like a get too much. It’s a struggle.
The Formula
The description for the Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvet says:
-Weightless liquid color with a smooth finish
-Earth shattering color stays up to 8 hours
-Moisturizing formula instantly increases lip moisture but 31%.
As for these claims the lacquer is pretty darn light on the lips. Definitely the most light weight matte lipstick I have tried. You only feel it on the lips a little bit when you apply it.
The color is very opaque and pretty consistent which I love! However, stay for eight hours might be an overstatement. I had mine on for about six before I felt like I needed to reapply. Also this did bleed outside my lip line so try and wear a lip liner to prevent that!

After 6 hoursFinally, moisturizing lip color is big for me because I hate dry lips (I can’t even try and wear the wet and wild mega last lipsticks). I was really hoping it would at least just not dry at my lips if not moisturizers them like the claim says. Alas, my lips felt pretty dry by the time I had to reapply.
I really wanted to love this product! Did I like it? Yes, I love that the drugstore came out with a matte liquid lipstick and that the pigmentation is beautiful and consistent for it. However, I was looking for a more moisturizing formula due to the claim or for it to be a little bit more long wearing.

If you like the original Rimmel show off lip lacquer and you don’t have a problem with lip dryness or reapplication pick it up! The 5 colors to choose from are gorgeous and worth trying for yourself.
