There are a ton of trends out there this fall, and if you want to see what those are check out my video to catch the latest trends
However fun trends may be, your entire wardrobe probably doesn’t consist of trendy pieces. You need those basic pieces to complete your look. On the other hand, you don’t want your basics to be too basic!
What I mean by that is, that the basics I’m looking out for this fall are ones with a little something extra.
For example, jeans are a basic, but grabbing a pair of straight leg jeans will give your look that extra kick!
Without further ado, here are the not-so-basic essentials you need to add to your closet this fall.
Straight Leg Jeans
Skinny jeans are officially being replaced. Don’t get me wrong—on a night out when I’m trying to look a little saucy I turn to my old reliable, there-for-me-always skinny jeans. However, running around in my day to day, I’ve been turning to a few different types of jeans. Straight leg, boyfriend, and mom jeans are my daily choice for weekends and the office. Those types of jeans just have a more relaxed silhouette.
Straight leg jeans, much like skinny jeans, can be easily dressed up or down. I personally like to style my straight leg jeans with a tucked-in button down and loafers to the office. A slogan tee and sneakers are perfect for running errands on the weekends.
Chelsea Boots
With all the boots coming out, Chelsea boots remain my pick for the pair to invest in. Comfortable, simple, and versatile are the words I would use to describe my Chelsea boots, and they are easy to throw on with any fall look.
Slogan Sweater
With slogan tees ruling the summer, fall will be all about messages on sweaters. They take any basic sweater and jeans combo and take it up a notch while remaining the wearable piece we all know and love.
Not-So-Basic Trench
Trenches are always a staple, but this season brands are giving us a little more room to play. Varying lengths and colors will make choosing the perfect one a difficult decision.
Suede Jacket
Move over leather jackets, you’ve got some competition! Suede jackets are like the softer, more casual version of the leather jacket. For example, say your leather jacket is Zara then your suede jacket is Free People (I actually don’t know if that helps… let me know). Anyway, a suede moto jacket will keep you feeling warm and looking cool. (Cheesy, but true.)
Printed Button Down
The pajama-style top is back again! That means a lot of print along with vertical stripes on your button-down styles. This is such a fun and easy piece that works for the office or even a night out depending on the print. I love wearing my printed button-down pajama top with some skinny or straight leg jeans along with some masculine loafers for a look that can go from the office to out with the girls.
Wide Leg Trousers
This easy piece can be found in a ton of different colors and prints to fit your personal style. It’s another versatile pant that can be worn with a t-shirt or something more tailored. I love wearing wide leg trousers with my favorite sequined t-shirt and sneakers for a casual, but luxe look.
