This month has been really fun for me! I have been able to begin accomplishing my goals for my blog and other parts of my life. 2016 is off to a great start. If you want to know what I loved this month, keep reading!
Makeup Favorites
It Cosmetics Live, Love Laugh Vitality Brightening Anti-Aging Face Disk
I had never really used products from It Cosmetics before, but when I’ve seen their specials on QVC, they’ve always been offering something innovative to make your face look healthier, younger, or just better.
What I really like about their TV specials is how they’ve always featured people of different ages, since I know a lot of makeup companies have the youngest prettiest customer in mind, but who is looking out for the mature ladies?!
After going to an event with It Cosmetics recently, I was able to get my hands on some goodies. The trio I got blew everything turned out to be one of my favorites. I love using this thing! It comes with a blush, highlighter, and bronzer. I love using all three. You know how sometimes you get a product and you can’t use all the shades? That was my fear with this product, but they all work perfectly for my skin tone, and I find myself reaching for it day after day.
(This picture does not do the highlight justice. Go to Ulta and swatch this baby!)
The blush is a soft peachy pink that blends so evenly over the cheeks. The pigment makes it easy to get just enough of a flush. The bronzer looks a little warm at first, but when I put it on it makes my skin look alive and healthy. Finally is the highlighter. On days that I want glow, but I don’t want to be sparkly, I put this on. It’s the perfect champagne shade that just melts into the skin. My only complaint is that I wish it came in more shades. I am pretty sure that this is the only shade option that the trio comes in, but I know people would be grabbing it off the shelves if they had more options.
NYC BB Creme
I started using this in the summer when I was running out of tinted moisturizer, but this last month is when it really became a favorite for me. I started using it because my skin became really dry this winter and all my foundations were settling in my dry patches and pores. I tried a few things before I rediscovered this in my collection. It’s pretty watery, so you’ll need to be careful when applying it, but it just glides over the skin and blends out to a nice skin-like finish. It can take a minute to set, so if you are in a rush, you’ll have to throw some powder on top. What I really love is that it comes in a tube and the price! I can apply this with either my fingers or a beauty blender and end up with light to medium coverage. I was very pleasantly surprised by this product. The only thing that bothers me about this is the lack of shades! Come on NYC add more than three shades!
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rose Velvet
This was basically the only lipstick I used this month. It was just one of their Super Lustrous Lipsticks in the shade Rose Velvet, a rosy nude. It just goes with every eye look and feels like nothing on your lips. I had to reapply every few hours, but it wasn’t drying or anything so it didn’t bother me. I love this color and it’s my go to every time I don’t know what to wear on my lips.
Fashion Favorites
Band Tees
I love seeing bands play live—there is just something about seeing a band you love, playing the songs you love right in front of your face! Most of the time when I go to these sorts of shows it’s for bands I love, and buying a T-shirt is my favorite way to preserve my memories forever and support the band.
This month, I have been wearing the shirts I own every day on the weekends, because t-shirts aren’t exactly office appropriate. I have about three or four that I can’t stop wearing! They are extra special for me because I am able to look back to that show and that experience and enjoy it all over again.
G by Guess Zipper Boots c/o Marshalls
These boots have been my best friend this month for two reasons:
- They are cute.
- They have rubber soles with traction.
It has snowed a lot this month, and with that my friends comes ice. Ice and I are not friends. I don’t want to tell you how many times I have slipped and fallen on ice. I am already clumsy and translucent slippery surfaces do not help. These boots keep me on my feet and avoid falling. And let’s face it—they are also really cute with all their zipper details!
Under Armour Ankle Socks
I received dozens of pairs of socks for Christmas and I am not upset about it! I hate buying boring things like socks, so I wear the same pair until I can’t wear them anymore. My family decided that was not a way for a girl to live, so each one of my family members bought me socks. My favorite socks are the kind I got from Under Armour that never slide down my foot and wick away sweat. They come in all kinds of colors and I just can’t stop wearing them! But I of course do because they need to be washed. Because dirty socks are gross…

Makeup Organization
I’ll be the first to say I am not the most organized person. When I moved into my new place, I wanted to my room to a place to relax and not have to worry. I wanted everything to have a place so I started adopting better organizational methods. I still haven’t gotten the hang of it, but I’m working on it.
For my makeup, I’ve never had all my stuff all in one place. There was always some over here, a little over there, and so on. At first I had tried the plastic makeup organizers that just sat out, but I just couldn’t keep them organized. After looking over pinterest and youtube I determined that I needed a new storage method for my makeup and decided on plastic drawers. With this method I I’ve been able to give everything a place, and when it’s cleaned up, most of my makeup is out of sight. So far I am really happy with this method, but I only started using it about three weeks ago so hopefully it keeps me organized and I can continue working on the other unorganized parts of my room.
