The seasons are changing, and more often than not, you’re looking into your closet and can’t figure out what to wear. One reason for this is you are not getting the most out of the pieces you own. Here are the most common reasons you are saying you have nothing to wear and some tips on how to get your wardrobe back.
You Can’t See What You Have
I know this is a big one for me. I have my clothes stored in a few different places and it’s hard to remember everything that’s there. Make sure you have a storage system that works for your wardrobe. Store your out-of-season pieces to make room for your current season staples.
Something Isn’t Quite Right
Let’s say you have a sweatshirt with a banded bottom and you love everything about it, but that detail prevents it from looking good with any of your outfits. Cut it off! DIY your way to a new top. I do this with so many pieces—simply by cutting a hem, trimming a sleeve or removing shoulder pads, you can create new pieces at-home that you’ll love to wear.
Your Clothes Need Some TLC
This is when you have pieces that you love, but there is something off that makes them unwearable maybe there’s a stain on it or it doesn’t fit like it used to. If you love it, see if you can get it tailored or dry cleaned back to its former glory. If that doesn’t make you want to wear it, then get rid of it to make room for all your other gorgeous pieces.
Take Out a Piece of Clothing You’ve Been Neglecting
You bought a beautiful top that you know is gorgeous, but you only wear it with that one pair of jeans. Challenge yourself to put together five looks using that one piece, try each of them on, and see what works. If all goes according to plan, you will have five new looks to try. If nothing is working, go out of your comfort zone and look for more inspiration.
Get Inspired!
You’ve tried everything! You need inspiration so you go on to Pinterest and it’s the same old stuff. Try looking on retailer and brand websites. Search for the item you own (or something similar) to see how they style it. Most retailers are trying to put together cohesive looks when styling for their websites (so you buy the whole outfit). This gives you the ability to take inspiration from brands you love. I personally love doing this on ASOS because they carry so many brands, and it’s easy to find a ton of inspiration for what I own.

These are great tips! I especially love the one about TLC to your existing clothes. I take my good shoes in at least every year to get worked on, new tips, new soles, shined up. It’s like getting a new pair for a fraction of the price. And it helps them last longer too!
Yes! Getting shoes new soles is a lifesaver and always extends the life of the shoe!
I love this tips I’m also guity of having things in different places and then I tend to forget what I have! Love these tips though 😀

You go girl! Getting reorganized always makes me feel like I have a whole new closet
I like your fresh new outlook on clothes. So before getting rid of a certain piece take a look at it and see what can come out of it. Awesome idea.
I love shopping my closet and doing small DIYs to give clothes new life! I just recently starting taking my jeans in after watching a Youtube video! I was going to spend $20 dollars a pair on tailoring, but found I could do it just as well myself
These are such helpful tips! I know I always make fun discoveries when I take the time to clean out my closet and see everything that I have
Yes! I love shopping my closet. Finding new ways to style pieces is the best part!
These are such great tips! One great thing about moving is it forced me to look at all the clothes I haven’t thought about in ages. I ended up wearing a dress that I probably haven’t worn since high school yesterday just because I had completely forgotten about it.
Oh that’s the best! I love finding pieces you just let slip through the cracks and giving them a new life
