Home Fashion My Favorite Transitional Office Outfit

This transitional time between high summer and fall is perfect for mixing textures and prints. You are able to create a lot of really interesting combinations by pairing summer textures like chiffon, silk, and cotton with heavier fall fabrics like leather, suede, and cozy knits.

I love this look because even though it is all one base color, the mixing of textures makes it interesting to the eye. The other elements of transitional office outfit that make it pop are the play in proportion, and the use of the print. The simple, but bold print has the base color to go with the rest of the outfit, but gives the eye a break from all black by introducing the light pink dots.

When it comes to proportion, this look is balanced because it gives volume in different ways. In the skirt the A-line shape gives volume at the hem. In the top the volume is in the billowing balloon sleeves. The skirt and the top meet at the waist which is defined, all together this creates a balanced hourglass shape.

This is the perfect transitional office outfit. It’s an updated, more fashion forward take on a button down and pencil skirt. This outfit could easily be transitioned to winter by layering a knit V neck long sleeve under the blouse to give extra warmth, and adding tights and booties. This outfit could also work with a printed bottom with a solid top. I love wearing this outfit when I have an important meeting because it looks put together without feeling too serious.
